For more than three decades, donations to the Kennesaw Police Department's Christmas fund have enabled the agency to give toys and new clothes to needy children in Acworth and Kennesaw.
The deadline for food, clothing, toy and monetary donations to the Jerry Worthan Memorial Christmas Fund is Tuesday, and only 70 of the 250 children who require assistance this year have been adopted, the department spokesman said this afternoon.
They're counting on businesses and individuals to come to the rescue.
"We need everyone’s help," Officer Scott Luther said.
In addition to filling adoption needs, the police department is accepting donations from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at its headquarters, 2539 J.O. Stephenson Ave.
Officers are even willing to pick up donations if people can't drop them off during the designated hours. Monetary contributions will be used to help Luther and other volunteers shop for toys and clothes for the children who aren't adopted.
