KSU Celebrates Black and Jewish Musical Traditions

will host a recital Sunday, Feb. 19, highlighting vocal works from the African-American and Jewish traditions, including spirituals, Yiddish songs and arts songs by black and Jewish composers.

Kennesaw State Professor of Voice and Music Literature, Oral Moses, will be joined by Cantor Daniel Gale from Birmingham's Temple Beth-El for “Songs of Struggle, Songs of Faith: Celebrating the African-American and Jewish Musical Traditions.”  

The concert will also include a special appearance by the Georgia Spiritual Ensemble, accompanied on piano by Kathryn Fouse of Samford University and Judith Cole, KSU adjunct instructor of music theory and music history.

The recital will take place Sunday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. at the Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance Center, located at 1000 Chastain Rd. in Kennesaw. The event is free and open to the public.
