Get Out: Youth Symphony, Film Festival

Having trouble making weekend plans for yourself or the family? Look no further.

 

Another weekend is upon us, and again you have no idea as to what you want to do. Kennesaw Patch has been keeping its ear to the ground for all the great weekend stuff coming up, and we're sharing the best of it with you.

1. "KIDDIE GARDENER" SERIES

Where/When: Smith-Gilbert Gardens; Friday, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.

Why Go: Because you want your little one with the green thumb to learn more about just how the environment works.

Pricing: $5 per child

2. GEORGIA YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS CONCERT

Where/When: Bailey Performance Center, Kennesaw State University 1000 Chastain Rd NW, Kennesaw, GA; Sunday, 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Why Go: Because you want to get a first hand look at the budding musical talents in our state.

Pricing: $5

3. GEORGIA NEXT LEVEL BASKETBALL OPEN GYM/TRYOUTS

Where/When: Allatoona High School; Sunday, 3 p.m.-7 p.m. (15u-17u tryouts start at 3 p.m., 11u-14u tryouts start at 5 p.m.)

Why Go: Because your kid has mad ups.

Pricing: free

4. JUNIOR ASTRONOMY WORKSHOP

Where/When: Tellus Science Museum; Friday, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.

Why Go: Because your little ones are Sirius (see what we did there?) about learning about the wonders of the night sky.

Pricing: $10 for members, $25 for non-members

5. THIRD ANNUAL NIGHT OF INDEPENDENTS FILM FESTIVAL

Where/When: Legion Theater; Saturday, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: What better way to spend your Saturday evening than taking in indie films in a classic theater?

Pricing: $5
