Hundreds Race in Swift Cantrell Classic

Saturday morning, about 850 people participated in Kennesaw's second annual Swift Cantrell Classic. The 5k race raised about $15,000 for improvements to Swift Cantrell Park and is the first of six races in the Kennesaw Grand Prix Series. 

Daniel Bledsoe, the Kennesaw Police Department's newest officer, placed first in the men's overall division with a time of 16:21, finishing nearly a minute ahead of the pack. Tara Mooney finished first in the women's division with a time of 19:36. She also won the city's Faith Cline Elf Trot in December of last year.

The next race in the series is the Garden Gallop on June 18, benefiting Smith-Gilbert Gardens.
