A Kennesaw teacher was critically injured when he was hit by a vehicle at around 5 this morning.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, 32-year-old Jeffrey Ingram was jogging east on North Booth Road nearing Junction Drive when he was hit by a red 2012 Chevrolet Traverse.

Ingram was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital by ground and is listed in critical condition, said police.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, 50-year-old William Benton of Doraville, was not injured. The collision is still under investigation, and charges are pending.

Ingram is a physical education teacher at Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy, according to several posts on the school's Facebook page offering thoughts and prayers for his recovery.

Posters on the Kennesaw Patch Facebook page have also shared their well wishes.

"Very saddened by this news. He is such an asset for the school. My daughter goes to school there and she just ADORES him," wrote one poster. "She comes home from school and talks about him all the time! He will be in our prayers along with his family."

"Coach Ingram is an awesome teacher and loved by eveyone at Kennesaw Charter. Thoughts and prayers to him and his wonderful family," another commenter shared.
