It is one of two collection events in Kennesaw on Saturday.
Need to clear out your medicine cabinet?
Drop off any unwanted and expired medications during the Kennesaw Police Department's Drug Take Back event, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the back parking lot of City Hall, 2539 J.O. Stephenson Ave.
The event, one of two collection initatives in Kennesaw on Saturday, is free and anonymous, no questions asked. The Kennesaw Police Department, which is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration, hopes it will curb pill abuse and theft.
“The amount of prescription drugs turned in by the American public during the past Take-Back Day events speaks volumes about the need to develop a convenient way to rid homes of unwanted or expired prescription drugs,” DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart said in a statement. “DEA remains hard at work to establish just such a drug disposal process, and will continue to offer take-back opportunities until the proper regulations are in place.”
In addition to the Kennesaw Police Department, Keep Cobb Beautiful and Kaiser Permanente will host Medication Disposal Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Cobb Police Precinct 1, 2380 Cobb Pkwy. NW., according to West Cobb Patch.
