Lawsuit Filed over KSU Coach Job
Kevin Cantwell says Kennesaw State President Daniel Papp offered him the head basketball job months before the new athletic director hired Lewis Preston instead.
A former Georgia Tech assistant coach who says he was offered the head basketball coaching position at last year but was later passed over has filed a lawsuit against the Georgia Board of Regents.
Kevin Cantwell filed the suit Monday in , according to USA Today.
Cantwell says KSU President Daniel Papp offered him the job Feb. 16, 2011, but said it couldn't be announced until after an 8-23 season. Cantwell quit a job in North Carolina and moved back into his family's vacant Marietta home next door to Papp, USA Today reported.

The lawsuit says Cantwell was offered $340,000 in salary for himself and his staff, and he began to recruit players and assistants, including former Georgia Tech and NBA point guard Kenny Anderson.
But on April 9, 2011, Cantwell says, Papp told him he wasn't going to be the coach.

Later that month, , Vaughn Williams, made his first hire even before officially starting the job, as the men’s basketball coach.
Kennesaw State finished 3-28 in Preston's first season.
