LGE Strike Is Over

The union gave up the strike Thursday, 13 days after it started.

The Machinists union strike against is over.

A message on the website for the International Association of Machinists Lodge 709, the Marietta-based local representing unionized workers at the credit union, says simply: β€œCredit union contract ratified by 88%. Picket lines are down!”

The union gave up the strike Thursday, , the Marietta Daily Journal reported, even though Marietta-based LGE stuck by the main point of contention: the switch from a pension to a 401(k) plan for workers.

The Machinists also objected to among its seven branches in Cobb, Cherokee and Paulding counties.

But local President Denise Rakestraw told the MDJ the union feared the loss of jobs for all 30 or so members on strike; LGE replaced 11 workers during the two-week strike.

The credit union has one job advertised on its website now: a software developer/programmer.
