Mathews to Issue State of the City Address
Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews will present his updates on the city during Tuesday's Kennesaw Business Association meeting.
Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews will isssue his State of the City Address on Tuesday, Jan. 10, during the Kennesaw Business Association's monthly luncheon.
Mathews has served as mayor of Kennesaw since 2008. He announced his bid for reelection during his 2011 address, and was subsequently reelected during the Nov. 8 elections.
The address will take place at the KSU Center, located at 3333 Busbee Dr. in Kennesaw, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. According to the KBA website, the event is sponsored by North Cobb Christian School with catering by Creations by Cookie.
KBA President John Loud highlighted the association's 2011 accomplishments in his January letter. Loud noted events such as the city's Big Shanty Festival, which attracted more than 70,000 people this year, and Taste of Kennesaw, which had 30 participating restaurants and 25,000 attendees.
Loud also recognized Greg Carter and his team at California Dreaming as the 2011 KBA Business of the Year. David Kapchinske was honored as KBA Person of the Year, and Olivia Smathers received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Smathers, a Kennesaw resident since the 1940s, was also honored by the Kennesaw City Council in September for her civic leadership.
