Mayor Appointed to Nat'l Committee

The appointment was announced by the National League of Cities president.

Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2013 Community and Economic Development Steering Committee. This Committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation, and international competitiveness. The appointment was announced by NLC President Marie Lopez Rogers, Mayor, Avondale, Arizona.

“Economic development is the foundation of the successful growth of every city, and I am honored to be participating in this very influential and important group,” said Mathews. “I’ll be able to share some of Kennesaw’s success stories and learn first-hand about the opportunities and challenges faced by others.”

As a member of the committee, Mayor Mathews will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America’s cities and towns on Capitol Hill, with the Administration, and at home.
