NCCS Coach Greg Matta and his championship team join "Matta's Maniacs" to celebrate their win.

The North Cobb Christian School varsity boys Eagles basketball team won the Region 6A championship Saturday night, beating their cross-town Kennesaw rival, Mount Paran Christian School Eagles, by a score of 70-45.

Led by Coach Greg Matta, the NCCS team came out of the gates strong and never looked back. Mount Paran, led by Coach Scott Varner, came within seven points at its closest rally, but never posed a real threat.

A strong NCCS fan base of "Matta's Maniacs" were on hand in the tiny northwest Georgia town of Trion, and their 29-0 team rewarded them for their efforts in making the two-hour drive north.

NCCS now begins their run for the state title, starting next Saturday on their home court.  Check out the Kennesaw Patch photo gallery here for more photos of last night's game.
