GBI: Canton Police Spokeswoman Subject of Investigation
Sgt. Stacy Bailey, the spokeswoman for theCanton Police Department and one of the key figures behind a new child safety program, is the subject of a GBI criminal investigation, officials with both agencies said today.
Chief Bob Merchant on July 18 asked the GBI to "look into an expense from the ... Explorers fund," said Kim Williams, a special agent in the GBI's Cleveland, GA, office, which covers Cherokee County.

New Details Emerge About Skeletal Remains Found in Lawrenceville
Officials are releasing additional information in the search for the name of young woman, whose skeletal remains were found in a Lawrenceville neighborhood earlier this week.
Based on a medical examination, the remains are now believed to be that of a black woman between the ages of 19 and 22. In addition, investigators place her height at 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, police said in a press release.

Cumming Challenges Sunshine Laws Constitutionality
City of Cumming officials have challenged the constitutionality of Georgia's sunshine laws.
In response to a lawsuit filed by Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens alleging the City of Cumming violated those laws last April, by barring Nydia Tisdale from videotaping a city council meeting , City Attorney Dana Miles said the law is unconstitutional.
