AMC 24 in Kennesaw Expands Screenings of 'The Undefeated'

After two sold-out screenings last week, AMC Barrett Commons 24 in Kennesaw will begin showing the film five times a day, starting today.

The Undefeated, the controversial film documenting Sarah Palin's rise from obscurity, is expanding its release to include regular screenings at the AMC Barrett Commons 24 Theatre in Kennesaw.

Filmmaker Stephen Bannon personally attended , one of 10 cities to exclusively debut the film.

“The reason I really wanted to make (the film) was because there was this meme out there that she was Caribou Barbie, a bimbo and an ideologue," Bannon told Kennesaw Patch last weekend. "The story in Alaska was completely different, the empirical evidence was completely different. I wanted to see if I could actually make a film to really set the record straight, and I thought it was a very compelling story."

The premiere in Kennesaw garnered an overwhelmingly positive response from movie goers–many of whom were self-described Palin supporters.

“I support Sarah Palin because she’s a true American patriot,” said attendee Irma Munoz. “I have been a supporter of hers since 2008, when John McCain actually brought her onto the stage. I do believe she’s a godly woman, a woman after God’s heart, to do what is best for America, and not necessarily herself.”

“It’s going to be a game changer,” said attendee Kendall Gault. “It’s a really good film. It shows a lot about her history as a politician in Alaska and really sheds some light on her career.”

However, some critics have labeled the film as political propaganda, an accusation that Bannon denies.

"It's a straight hagiography, without nuance or ambiguity or the admission of opposing viewpoints, even those meant to be dismantled," wrote David Edelstein in a review in New York Magazine.

A review in the Los Angeles Times called the film "a troop-rallying campaign infomercial as imagined by Michael Bay: hero-worshipping, crescendo-edited at a dizzying pace, thunderously repetitive and its own worst enemy as a two-hour, talking-points briefing."

But Bannon remains optimistic about early responses to the film.

“Given the audience response on our opening weekend, we now know we have a film that works. Our objective is very simple–to bring this film to every market and every corner of the country; starting with a limited theatrical release and then through an aggressive broader distribution strategy including streaming video, on-demand access and DVD,” he said.

The film is also set to premiere today in Lawrenceville, along with additional theaters in Arizona, Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina and California.
