Police Blotter: Dog Attacks Child, Hammers Away

Here's the latest in Kennesaw crime news from Feb. 11-Feb. 13.

The following information was taken directly from the incident reports between Feb. 11 and Feb. 13.

Pit Bull Bites Child: On Feb. 11, a 7-year-old child was bit by a neighbor's pit bull. The owner of the dog said she let the animal out the back door of her home to use the bathroom when the dog ran out toward a wooded area behind the Annandale neighborhood park where children were playing. She said the dog ran toward one of the children and continued to do so, even after she engaged a shock collar. The dog then bit the child before being pulled back by an older child. Police observed injuries on the child's back and upper hamstring. Cobb County Animal Control removed the dog and issued the owner three citations.

Stolen Meat: On Feb. 12, a Kennesaw woman reported suspicions to police that over the last year, her adult children have been breaking into her home and stealing meat from her freezer, along with other miscellaneous items, including a hair dryer, photos, and beads and ribbon from a craft room.

Hammer to the Windshield: On Feb. 13, a Kennesaw man reported that after a verbal dispute over a vehicle, his ex-wife took a hammer and struck the rear windshield of his GMC Yukon, shattering it. She also reportedly hit the left rear taillight before getting in her vehicle and driving away.

A Literal Hit and Run: On Feb. 12, two men were arrested after allegedly committing a hit and run in the parking lot in front of on Cherokee Street. After hitting a Kia Sedona from behind, the two men reportedly got out of their vehicle and fled the scene on foot, running into the Campus Colony Mobile Home Park. Both men were later apprehended by police. The driver was charged with a hit and run, obstruction and driving with no license.
