Police ID 5 in Kennesaw Accident
A 53-year-old Marietta man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.
The Cobb County Police Department has identified the five people involved in a major accident that caused heavy traffic delays Wednesday at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and McCollum Parkway.
According to the department's preliminary findings, a blue 2006 Toyota Corolla was southbound on Cobb Parkway at the same time a green 2011 Volvo Tractor-Trailer was westbound on McCollum Parkway. The Volvo struck the Toyota on the driver’s side.
The impact caused the Toyota to collide with three other vehicles that were stopped in the northbound lanes of Cobb Parkway, said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.
The driver of the Toyota has been identified as 53-year-old Ehsan Khan of Marietta. He was taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.
Three others inside the Toyota were taken to WellStar, but their injuries weren't life threatening. Cobb Police identified the trio as 55-year-old Ghulam Khan, 21-year-old Sumbal Khan and 22-year-old Sidra-tal Khan. All are from Kennesaw.
John Teal of Knoxville, Tenn., the 57-year-old driver of the Volvo, was not injured in the crash.
