Swift-Cantrell Classic Kicks off City Series

The 5K race will take place May 7 and benefit improvements to Swift-Cantrell Park.

Pre-registration has begun for Kennesaw's second annual Swift-Cantrell Classic “race for more play space.”

According to a city news release, the event will take place Mother's Day weekend on Saturday, May 7, at 6:30 a.m. in downtown Kennesaw. As the first of six 5K races in the Kennesaw Grand Prix Series, proceeds will go toward capital improvements to the park.

The 5K course takes runners through downtown Kennesaw, starting at Kennesaw First Baptist Church on Main Street and into Swift-Cantrell Park, where the course makes a loop before going back up Old Highway 41. The race will be electronically timed, and awards will be presented in 14 groups.

Pre-registration is $25 per person and includes a t-shirt, race packet and pancake breakfast. Race day registration is $30 per person (t-shirt not guaranteed).

The day's activities will also include a one-mile fun run.

The Kennesaw Grand Prix Series consists of six 5K races sponsored by and benefiting the city of Kennesaw. Participants who complete any four of the six races will receive a commemorative t-shirt and sticker.
