A local student won't have to worry about he'll get to a national competition next month. That's because California Dreaming's Greg Carter and former Kennesaw Business Association president Debbie Underkofler recently presented North Cobb High School student Daniel Kinslow with a check for $2,000 to cover his expenses for the trip. The KBA reached out to the culinary arts instructor at North Cobb, and offered to help support Kinslow, who will represent Cobb at the 49th Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo. The next 'How to do Business with Cobb' seminar will be held in Powder Springs. Scheduled for 5 p.m. May 21 at the West Cobb Senior Center, 4915 Dallas Hwy., business owners will have the opportunity to learn about vendor opportunities, meet county department representatives and network with other local business owners. Brian Bohannon will speak at the May 21 West Cobb Business Association Luncheon, which will be held at Lost Mountain Baptist Church.
Kennesaw State University's first head football coach will be in West Cobb. Brian Bohannon will speak at the May 21 West Cobb Business Association Luncheon, which will be held at Lost Mountain Baptist Church. Networking begins at 11:15 a.m., followed by lunch and Bohannon's speech from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 for members of the association and $20 for guests. The luncheon is billed as a "meet and greet" with Bohannon, who was hired nearly two months ago. Since that March 24 announcement, he has hired five staff members for the Owls' inaugural season in 2015. The latest inspections by Cobb Public Health include visits to Blu Greek Taverna, Donny's Home Cooking, Shillings On The Square, Stilesboro Biscuits, Taqueria Morelos and more.
Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from a best possible score of 100. A sample inspection form is attached. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.

The Cobb Business-to-Business Expo, a free event that drew more than 1,600 people in 2012, is scheduled for 3 p.m. on May 16 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. This year, the expo will feature former Atlanta Braves player Javy Lopez, who will sign autographs in the LOUD Security Systems booth. LOUD is just one of more than 150 local businesses that will showcase their products and services at the expo. Other exhibitors include Keep it in Cobb, which encourages residents to buy local. Just a few weeks ago, a Kennesaw woman was arrested on a charge of masturbation for hire during an undercover operation at the massage parlor.
A massage parlor along Barrett Parkway with a history of suspected sexual activity will have to close its doors "immediately," county spokesman Robert Quigley just told Patch. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, Cobb County last year issued Qiyi Hao a health spa license to operate Q Massage, 1200 Ernest Barrett Pkwy., Suite 17A. When Hao tried to get the license renewed this year, the county’s business license division denied the request Feb. 21. Hao appealed to the Board of Commissioners. Today, comissioners voted 5-0 to deny his request to remain open. "So they should be closing immediately," Quigley wrote in an email to Patch.
