Our Pin of the Day for Tuesday, Feb. 7, is a post-game photo taken by my father at the Super Bowl. It's a picture that almost didn't happen. Dad managed to get pickpocketed, losing his game and tailgate party tickets in the process. If you've ever met my father, you'd know he's a likely target for a pickpocket. He has the reflexes of a sloth and once fell asleep during a Las Vegas performance by the Blue Man Group, an act that basically consists of loud drumming. Our Pin of the Day for Friday, Feb. 3, is a YouTube clip from the 1956 Disney film "The Great Locomotive Chase." The film is based on the Civil War event of the same name in which volunteers from the Union Army commandeered a train in Big Shanty, GA (now known as Kennesaw) and took it toward Chattanooga, TN, damaging the Western and Atlantic Railroad along the way. Our Pin of the Day for Thursday, Feb. 2, is a "secret message" Valentine found via Better Homes and Gardens. All you need is white paper, a white crayon, scissors, watercolors, a paintbrush and a special message for a special someone. Simply cut hearts out of the white paper, write your secret love notes on them using a white crayon, then place the hearts around the house for your loved one to find. Our Pin of the Day for Wednesday, Feb. 1, is a beautiful soccer ball cake baked in honor of Coach Jay, a well-loved member of the Kennesaw community who died Friday after being struck by a vehicle while jogging Thursday morning. Sara Rylander, a local custom cake decorator whose daughter attends Kennesaw Charter Science and Math Academy where Coach Jay taught physical education, shared this sweetly inspired cake on our Kennesaw board. Who run the world? Girls! Our Pin of the Day for Tuesday, Jan. 31, features a Beyoncé-inspired performance by the Kennesaw State University Dance Team. According to its website, the dance team is in its 13th season. The dancers serve as ambassadors for the university, promote school spirit, and dance at all home men's and women's basketball games. They also compete at the NDA Collegiate Championship in Daytona Beach, FL. The team will host its annual Jr. Owls Dance Team Clinic for grades Pre K-12 on Saturday, Feb. 11.
