5 Things: World's Largest Swimming Lesson, Transportation Call, Flag Day

Here are five things you should know before you leave the house today.

1. According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny with a high around 90 and a calm wind between 10 and 15 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low near 63.

2. More than 170,000 Cobb County residents will find Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews and county Commission Chairman Tim Lee to discuss possible transportation projects that could be funded if a penny sales tax referendum passes next summer.

Cobb residents will be called at random through an automated system to participate in the one-hour forum, which starts at 7:15 p.m. Participants who stay on the line will be able to ask questions and share input about their transportation wants and needs. Residents who don't receive a call but wish to participate should call 1-888-886-6603 and enter PIN 16720.

3. Swimmers in Kennesaw, and around the world, will attempt to break a Guinness World Record today at 11 a.m.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson will take place at on Cobb Parkway, as well as at hundreds of waterparks, community pools and aquatic facilities across the country, to raise awareness about drowning prevention. The lessons are free and open to anyone who wants to participate. Check here for a complete list of participating locations.
