70K Expected at Big Shanty Festival

It will be held April 20-21 in downtown Kennesaw.

The 37th Annual Big Shanty Festival in downtown Kennesaw will take place this year on April 20-21. Co-sponsored by the City of Kennesaw and the Kennesaw Business Association, the festival features more than 200 booths of crafters, artisans, and vendors as well as live entertainment on several stages, children’s activities and more than 30 food booths. . The festival opens with a parade in downtown Kennesaw on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. featuring local high school bands, colorful floats and over 1,000 young marchers. Admission is free.

During the festival, roads in downtown Kennesaw will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 19. Cherokee Street will be closed from Main Street to Big Shanty; J.O. Stephenson will close from Main to Dallas; Watts Drive closes from Dallas to Main; Lewis will close from Dallas to Main. Additionally, Main St from Moon Station Rd to Summer St will be closed at 6 am Saturday and reopen at 8 pm Sunday.

Festival hours are Saturday, April 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, please call 770-423-1330 or visit the Kennesaw Business Association website, www.kennesawbusiness.org.
