And Now, A Word From Your Editor

Join Kennesaw Patch editor Gaetana Pipia each night to comment, muse and reflect on the city we live in.

I've always been a night owl. When it's just me, the darkness and the light of my computer screen, somehow my mind functions better.

While I've been heading to bed a little earlier lately (a side effect of pregnancy, I suppose), I still prefer the calmness and clarity that comes to me late in the evening.

Whether you're currently in bed and checking your e-mail before calling it a day, or a fellow insomniac whose nightly internet browsing has just begun, I'd like to invite you to join me each evening at 9 p.m. to comment, muse and reflect on the day's events, the day ahead or other stuff that happens to be floating around in the brain of a Patch editor under the light of the Big Shanty moon.

No, I won't be turning into a werewolf. I will, however, be breaking the fourth wall (or screen, rather) and using this nightly column as an opportunity to get to know you better. I'll also take the next couple hours to try and answer any questions or concerns you have about the site, the news and all of Kennesaw's infinite mysteries.

As your editor, it's my job to report the facts and to do so fairly and accurately. However, I'm sure you've noticed we do things a little differently at Patch. I don't pretend to be a little green robot journalist devoid of emotion.

I am human.

I have an overweight cat, the walls in my living room are Tibetan Orange and this may or may not be more information than you care to know about me. But hey, it's out there. In the spirit of transparency, you can check my for more of my background information and beliefs. And in the spirit of awkward blinking and twitching, you can also watch my from when the site first launched (admittedly, my background is in writing, not in looking competent in front of a camera.)

Speaking of which, can you believe it's been almost six months since the site first launched? Whether you've been with us since the beginning or are just tuning in, our breadth of coverage has certainly come a long way in the past several months.

However, I know we can do better, and we're constantly evolving to be as helpful and informative to our users as possible. (I'm sure you've noticed the many incarnations of our homepage. No, you're not crazy. Things do change.)

I encourage all of you to share your input about what stories and columns you like best, what features you find helpful or confusing, and what we can do better to serve the community.

Please use our comments section to voice your opinions and share information with others. Starting now. Really. Leave a comment. It only takes a second, and it's an invaluable way to connect with other folks in Kennesaw. Below, leave an insightful thought, ask a question about the site or simply introduce yourself.

After all, the night is young, and the conversation has just begun.
