Princess of Black Poetry

will hold a special celebration today at 1 p.m. Kennesaw State President Daniel Papp and the KSU Black History Celebration Committee will welcome special guest poet Nikki Giovanni. Giovanni has been dubbed the “Princess of Black Poetry” and was named one of Oprah Winfrey's 25 Living Legends.

When: Today at 1 p.m.

Where: Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance Center, 1000 Chastain Rd. in Kennesaw.

Details: Free, open to the public. Doors open at 12 p.m. with Giovanni's talk scheduled for 1 p.m. A book signing will follow from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Dream, the Life, the Legacy

Cobb County will host its 26th annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration today at 10 a.m. The event, entitled "The Dream, the Life, the Legacy," is sponsored by the Cobb County NAACP.

When: Today at 10 a.m.

Where: 548 S. Marietta Parkway in Marietta.

In case you missed it, two Kennesaw teens were arrested Friday in connection to an armed robbery at the Legacy Park amphitheatre.

Finally, help Kennesaw make history. Kennesaw State University's Peace Project is organizing an effort to form a giant human peace sign in a world record attempt. The event is scheduled for March 31 on the Kennesaw State campus green.
