Commissioners to Vote on Tax Increase, Raquel Nelson Sentencing

Here are five things you should know before you leave the house today.

1. According to the National Weather Service, today will be partly sunny with a high around 92 and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low near 70.

2. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will hold on the  tonight at 7 at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. During the first two hearings on the tax increase—both on July 19—speakers were closely divided on whether to raise the rate from a total of 9.6 mills to 11.21 mills for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30. 3.
