Congregation Ner Tamid to Celebrate Purim in North Cobb

It is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Feb. 24.

Reform Jewish Congregation Ner Tamid, which holds Shabbat services, religious school and other activities at various locations in Cobb, will celebrate Purim next Sunday with a carnival in North Cobb.

The carnival, which will be held at Mountain View Prep, 2320 Baker Rd., Acworth, will begin at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 24 with the megillah.

Purim is annual spring holiday that celebrates the bravery of Queen Esther and Mordechai, who foiled the plans of the king's advisor to destroy the Jews in Persia. This year, it begins on the evening of Feb. 23 and concludes the following night.

Congregation Ner Tamid's carnival will feature games, a bouncy house, hair spraying, face painting, tattoos and a costume contest.

Admission is $12 per child and free for parents. The cost of food will range from 50¢ for chips, soda, water, fruit snacks and apple slices to $2 for a complete meal that includes a slice of pizza, soda and chips.
