Dallas Woman Arrested After Cobb Robbery, Interstate 75 Chase

Authorities Monday afternoon temporarily shut down I-75 in both directions.

A Dallas woman has been arrested in connection with a robbery and high-speed chase that forced authorities this afternoon to temporarily shut down Interstate 75 in both directions.

About 10:54 a.m. today, 39-year-old Ancely Faye Green walked into the Acworth SunTrust Bank at 1755 Mars Hill Rd., claimed in a note that she had a bomb and demanded money, said Officer Mike Bowman with the Cobb County Police Department.

When she received an undisclosed amount of cash, she drove away from the bank in a black vehicle. Officers spotted her and tried to initiate a traffic stop.

Green, however, "refused to pull over and attempted to elude officers for several miles," Bowman said.

Authorities pursued her southbound on Mars Hill Road to Macland Road; eastbound on Macland Road to Windy Hill Road; eastbound on Windy Hill Road to I-75; and southbound on I-75 to Mount Paran Road.

Green lost control of the vehicle and crashed on I-75 South near the Mount Paran Road exit ramp.

That prompted authorities to shut down I-75 South, then the entire interstate.

No explosive devices were found in Green's car or at SunTrust Bank. Just after 1:30 p.m. Monday, officials reopened I-75 in both directions.

Green, who faces a charge of armed robbery, was taken into custody without incident.

She is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call 770-499-3945.
