Here are five kid-friendly activities and events to schedule into your family calendar.

“Kiddie Gardener” Series

When/Where: 2382 Pine Mountain Rd; every second and fourth Friday at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 program is “The Best Nest."

Why Go: The kids will enjoy an educational outdoor experience while singing and dancing around with the birds and butterflies.

Pricing: $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 per child; includes admission to the Gardens. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Hike Kennesaw Mountain

Where/When: ; daily, 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Closed six major holidays.

Why Go: Even if you aren’t a history buff, Kennesaw Mountain is well worth a visit. The top of the mountain has a great view, and there are even a few small grills available if you arrive early and stake your claim.

Why Go: So your kids can sit around and stare at pizzas bigger than they can spread their arms around.

Pricing: $5 lunch special includes slice with two regular toppings and a drink, add a side salad for $2 more.

Who Reads? We Read!

Where/When: All neighborhood  stores; Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

Why Go: Bring the kids for classic Dr. Seuss storytime, store giveaways and coupons.

Pricing: Free

Mythic Creatures Exhibit

Where/When: Fernbank Museum of Natural History; Feb. 19–Aug. 14.

Why Go: Where else can you find mythical creatures like dragons, unicorns, and mermaids all under one roof and explore the stories and traditions that celebrate them?

Pricing: Adults $15; students and seniors (62+) with ID $14; children ages 3-12 $13, children 2 and under (ticket required) free; museum members free.
