Kennesaw to Celebrate Start of Holiday Season

Saturday, there will be a parade, entertainment, tree lighting program and more.

The City of Kennesaw will celebrate the start of the Christmas holiday season with a parade, entertainment and tree lighting program downtown at Depot Park, 2828 Cherokee St., on Saturday, December 1.

The festivities are highlighted by a parade in downtown Kennesaw featuring local marching bands and musical ensembles, costumed characters, designer floats and live reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh. The parade, which begins at 1 p.m., will last about one hour. The parade route begins near the intersection of Park Drive and Main Street, and will proceed south and east down Main Street past Cherokee Street toward Sardis Street. Parade-goers should arrive early to ensure a good viewing location.

Festivities continue at the Depot until 6 p.m. and include visits with Santa, live music and dance performances featuring Kennesaw Parks & Recreation programs and a seasonal variety of food vendors, crafts, and general merchandise. Children’s activities include a petting zoo and pony rides, inflatable slides and bounces, and other fun activities. New this year is a real snow playground and snow tubing slide, the only attraction of its kind in Cobb County.
