Snow-less Snowmen, Conifer Rendezvous at the Gardens

There are a number of special events coming up at Smith-Gilbert Gardens this winter.

While we haven't yet experienced the , in Kennesaw is celebrating the season with a snow-less snowman competition and other winter activities.

Snow-less Snowman Competition

According to the Gardens' website and Facebook page, community members are invited to create snow-less snowmen using recycled Christmas trees as friendly habitats for neighborhood birds. Smith-Gilbert Gardens will provide the base container and the tree. You provide the environmentally-friendly decorations (fruit, popcorn, berries), as well as scarves, mittens and more to give your snowman a touch of life and personality. Invite your friends and neighbors to the Gardens on Saturday, Jan. 28, to vote for their favorite creation. The winner will be announced Jan. 29 during the Conifer Rendezvous. Competitors will receive free entrance to the event.

Smith-Gilbert Gardens is hosting its Conifer Rendezvous on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. Community members are invited to enjoy warm beverages and stroll through all 16 acres of the Gardens' winter landscape. Members of the American Conifer Society will be on hand to help you explore the Gardens' special collection of conifers. RSVP at info@smithgilbertgardens.com by Jan. 24.

There is a special $5 admission price. Competitors in the snow-less snowman competition and children 5 and under are free.
