Stormy Weather and Summer Fun

Here's the five things you should know today before you leave the house.

1) Today showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 2 p.m. (yeah that's what they said yesterday), with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Tonight showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 8 p.m., with a low around 60, according to the National Weather Service. Hmmmm sounds like Wednesday’s forecast.

2) The cheapest gas in town is still Costco at $3.62 a gallon on Ernest W. Barrett Parkway, but the next best thing is only $3.63 at QuikTrip on North Cobb Parkway and Pine Mountain Court.

3) The Kennesaw Farmers Market will open for business this year Tuesday, May 3, at 2753 Watts Drive (Adams Park Soccer Field Parking Lot). The market will be in operation every Tuesday through the end of October from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call 770-499-0874 or 770-794-7075 for more information.

4) The is partnering with the DEA for another National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30. Bring your unwanted, out-of-date prescription drugs to the Kennesaw Police Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for disposal.

5) The Summer 2011 edition of the Program Guide is now available. The guide features summer activities scheduled through Labor Day and includes information on more than 20 unique camps and 80 youth, teen and adult programs ranging from cheer, gymnastics and hip-hop dance to CPR, painting, tai-chi and Zumba. Plenty of options exist for almost every interest. The Program Guide also includes information about area parks and special events, including the city of Kennesaw's Summer Concert Series and Outdoor Movie Series.
