Suzy Bogguss to Perform at KSU Tonight

The concert is part of the 2012 Starlight Summer Concert Series.

Grammy and Country Music Award-winning artist Suzy Bogguss will perform at the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater at tonight as part of the 2012 Starlight Summer Concert Series.

Bogguss will perform songs from her recently released album “American Folk Songbook.” This new album features her take on some famous traditional folk melodies and ”a modern touch of classic Americana,” according to Great American Country. Audience members also will hear a sprinkling of hits from Bogguss' previous records.

Bogguss first moved to Nashville in 1985, and got her first recording contract with Capitol Records and her first album in 1989. In her years as a singer/songwriter, she has collaborated with some of Nashville’s biggest names in music, including Chet Atkins, Steve Dorff and Matraca Berg.

“Suzy's career highlights include heaps of awards, numerous albums and marquee performance appearances,” says David Daly, director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center. “It is always a treat to hear a Grammy award-winning artist perform, and a Sunday evening at the Gazebo will be the perfect backdrop for this music."

Admission at the Legacy Gazebo Amphitheater opens at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $8. For more information, including directions and parking, visit Starlight.

The next Starlight concert will be Sunday, August 5, featuring the KSU Faculty Jazz Parliament.
