Update: Tornado Warning for Cobb Canceled

A thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.

At 5:31 p.m., the National Weather Service canceled the tornado warning for northeastern Cobb County, southwestern Forsyth County and northeastern Fulton County.

The strong rotation indicated earlier in the area that prompted the warning has weakened, with the strongest part of the storm having moved into Gwinnett.

According to the weather service, moderate to heavy rain and cloud-to-ground lightning will continue.

A tornado watch remains in effect for northern Georgia until 8 p.m., and a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.

Another storm system is predicted to move in late Saturday and into Sunday. The weather service said it will release more details on that storm as they become available.
