Commemorate 150th Anniversary of Civil War at Movie Premiere

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and the Battles of Marietta 150th committee will present the premiere of the new movie "Kennesaw: One Last Mountain" at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre Sept. 22.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and the Battles of Marietta 150th committee will present the premiere of the new movie "Kennesaw: One Last Mountain" at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre Sept. 22. 

This will be the first showing of the new movie created by the National Park Service for the Battlefield's Visitor's Center. 

It includes recreations of the battles around Kennesaw Mountain and Marietta and is narrated by the actor of more than 100 films, Emmy-winning narrator Peter Coyote.

Concessions will open at 6:30 p.m. with Civil War artifacts on display in the Strand lobby and on the fourth floor. Live period music will be played by members of Symphony on the Square and a performance on the Strand organ by Marietta's own Ron Carter. 

At 7:30 p.m. the program will begin with introductions and a presentation of the history of the battlefield by national park historians. The movie will follow and is 35 minutes in length.

Tickets are $8 (individual).

Tickets are available at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre, Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park Visitors Center, Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum and Marietta Visitors Bureau.
