Rock to the Top Concert in the Park

Help Swift-Cantrell Park win $100,000 for improvements.

Fans of Kennesaw's are being asked to show their support by attending a free concert in the park featuring local bands and solo artists this Saturday.

During the Rock to the Top event from noon to 8 p.m., attendees are encouraged to bring laptops, smartphones and tablets to vote for Swift-Cantrell Park . The top three vote-getting parks will earn cash prizes, including a grand prize of $100,000.

Organizers of the event will be on hand to provide instructions about voting, and vote-a-thon stations will be set up for those who don’t have smart devices. Live music, free food and children’s activities will be provided.

”It’s going to take a community-wide effort to help Swift-Cantrell win the title of America’s Favorite Park,” said Recreation Division Manager David Pies. “We’re up against some very strong competition. We need everyone’s help in the next three weeks to keep us in contention.”

The contest requires voting online at livepositively.com/parks to earn one point per vote for the park. But 100 votes are awarded to anyone "checking in" using the foursquare location-based mobile app. Individuals must register foursquare accounts at livepositively.com/parks before checking in, then follow the directions to accept the application permissions.

There is no limit to the number of votes one person can cast. The contest ends on July 15.
