Crank Coffee Closes Doors for Good

Location and economy force Cobb Parkway gathering place to close.

opened last December to fanfare and excitement. Last weekend, the neighborhood coffee shop closed its doors for good.

The eclectic mix of decor at the Cobb Parkway coffee house was both an homage to and an invitation for community members to make the coffee house their own.

A loyal customer said last Saturday was "a very sad day" as customers came in for their last cup of organic Joe.Β  "They tried really hard."

The sluggish economy and bad location (cars had to make a u-turn on 41 North to access the shop) were some of the reasons given for its demise.Β  Competition from several national franchises nearby also didn't help. "We're not a franchise," said Rincon at his grand opening. "We're a Mom and Pop shop."
