Novelis Struggles to Fill Jobs

The aluminum company is opening its Kennesaw center this summer but can't find takers for six-figure-salary positions.

The world's largest producer of rolled aluminum . Cobb County .

But somehow Novelis can't find takers for 20 openings at the technology center it's opening on Vaughn Road this summer, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

has advertised for , but even six-figure salaries haven't closed the deal for the Buckhead-based global business.

The company has 16 descriptions for active job openings on its website today:

  • Tribologist.
  • Technologists dealing with thermo-mechanical processing, surface anodizing, spectroscopy, instrumentation, heat treatment and brazing, corrosion, coatings and calorimetry.
  • Senior engineer.
  • Research metallurgist.
  • Pilot line technician.
  • Optical properties scientist.
  • Human resources manager for global research and development.
  • Group leader for applied engineering.
  • Engineer.

I know why I'm not applying for those jobs, aside from the fact that I couldn't be happier than I am at Patch: A prerequisite for any of those jobs is probably understanding what they do. Tribologist? Brazing?

Why aren't you applying?

What area All the area kids going to school for business degree? Obama will sell us all on an education that is too vague and meets minimum requirements for the high tech sector.

Right, it's Obama's fault what degree a kid decides to pursue. How would a kid know to go into this field if he/she does not know anything about it?
