Tire Distributor Moving to Kennesaw

American Tire Distributors plans to bring 25 jobs from Rome to Kennesaw this summer.

American Tire Distributors has announced it will move its distribution warehouse operations from Rome to Kennesaw this summer.

The company is leaving Rome after 20 years because of the need for more room, the Rome News-Tribune first reported Friday. Its new space at 2155 Barrett Park Dr. has more than 100,000 square feet, compared with 84,000 in Rome.

American Tire is a tire and wheel wholesaler, serving as a middleman between manufacturers such as Michelin and Bridgestone and independent retailers. The Rome center delivered more than 200,000 tires last year, the News-Tribune said.

The company will bring about 25 jobs to Kennesaw, The Marietta Daily Journal reported.

All 23 Rome employees have been offered the chance to transfer to Kennesaw, and the company will likely need more people as the larger space allows business to grow.
