DC and the Lessons for Kennesaw
As I left DC yesterday just before the drama on Capitol Hill, I headed out for a run around the Capitol. I saw lots of kids and youth groups from all over.
I stopped and talked to one teacher who was consoling a visibly upset 8th grader.
This group from Lafayette LA had been saving for a year and a half to make this trip. They were distraught that everything they had worked so hard for has been taken away.
I encouraged the teacher to change the conversation...
Instead of oh poor me...
Let it be about the importance of our responsibility to put the right leaders in the right place.
Let it be about getting involved in the process and not about being a victim of others decisions.
I encouraged her to teach the children to roll up their sleeves and stop wringing their hands.
I hope these kids learn the lesson of a lifetime..one many adults have yet to grasp...
It does matter who you put in office to represent you and your interests.
Choose wisely, get involved and hold them accountable. It's your country and it is your community
