Here's what you need to know in Kennesaw for Sept. 15.
1. Cooler weather is headed our way. The National Weather Service says today will be partly sunny, with a high near 80. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 58.
2. The Georgia Education Articulation Committee’s Fall 2011 PROBE College Fair will be at Town Center at Cobb from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. The mall fair is free and open to high school students and their families. The eight-week fall tour consists of 61 college fairs held at various schools and venues across the state of Georgia.
3. Young ladies from 3 years to 24 years are encouraged show their winning smile in the annual North Georgia State Fair Pageant on opening night, Sept. 22. The fair, which runs for 11 days, takes place at Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. The 2011 fair theme is “Take A Ride On The Wild Side.” Reigning Miss Georgia 2011, Michaela Lackey, will be a guest mistress of ceremonies.

The first division Tiny Miss NGSF (ages 3-4 yrs.) kicks off festivities at the Main Arena at 6:00 p.m. Winners are announced after each contest. Judging then will take place for the following age groups: Petite Miss NGSF (ages 5-6 yrs.), Little Miss NGSF (ages 7-9 yrs.), Pre-Teen Miss NGSF (ages 10-12 yrs.), Junior Miss NGSF (ages 13-15 yrs.), Teen Miss NSGF (ages 16-17 yrs.) and Miss NGSF (ages 18-24 yrs.).

4. The Friends of the Cobb County Public Library System, a nonprofit group whose activities benefit the library system, is requesting that the public recycles their gently used books by donating them to the Cobb County Public Library System. Donations from the public support the ongoing and special book sales held by the Friends, which in turn support the library system’s book budget. Some items are also added to the library’s collection. Items in high demand include popular fiction titles and children’s books. Items may be dropped off and all donations are tax-deductible.
