Film Series at Library Celebrates Different Cultures

In recognition of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, Central Library staff will host screenings of episodes of the documentary "A Bill Moyers Special: Becoming American, The Chinese Experience."

In recognition of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, Central Library staff will host screenings of episodes of the documentary "A Bill Moyers Special: Becoming American, The Chinese Experience."

The screenings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on May 13 and 20. For more information, call 770-528-2338.

Also, in collaboration with Kennesaw State University, the final "Bridging Cultures Muslim Journeys" film discussion will be held at the Central Library 7 p.m., Thursday, May 23.

This third installment in the series is the HBO documentary "Koran By Heart. Koran by Heart." The movie follows the progress of three 10-year-old scholars, a girl and two boys, as they compete against other students in the Internation Holy Koran Competition in Cairo. Light refreshments will be provided.

The series has been funded by grants received from the American Library Association and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
