Suspect Caught, Football Legend, Dog Adoption

Here are 5 things you need to know in Kennesaw for August 19.

1. The weekend is upon us and that means nice weather. The National Weather Service calls for mostly sunny with a high near 90, with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Tonight's low will be a comfortable 69 degrees.

2. finally got their man - Rodney Halimon, Jr., 18, from Acworth was taken into custody this week and charged with attempted armed robbery and terroristic threats in a robbery attempt at the BB&T Bank at 2760 Cobb Parkway back in January. Halimon was transported to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Police said Halimon fled the bank without receiving any money, and the teller did not see any weapons.

3. Kennesaw Business Association has yet another big-name speaker coming to their luncheon on Sept. 13.  Former University of Georgia football coach Vince Dooley will be on hand at the 11 a.m. event at the KSU Continuing Education Center on Busbee Drive. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for guests. Dooley has been involved recently with bringing football to Kennesaw State University. No doubt this will sell out fast.
