Here's what you need to know in Kennesaw for Sept.13.

1. Another great weather day is on tap. The National Weather Service says it will be a bit warmer and sunny, with a high near 86. Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 57.

2. The Big Dawg--Vince Dooley--will be the guest speaker today at the Kennesaw Business Association monthly luncheon. The legendary University of Georgia football coach will speak at noon and networking begins at 11:00 a.m. The event is at the KSU Continuing Education Center, 3333 Busbee Drive, Kennesaw, and the cost is $15 for KBA members and $20 for guests. 3. Ever want to write your own story? A writing workshop will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Kennesaw Library, 2250 Lewis St., Kennesaw. Best selling author Margaret Johnson Hodge shares tips and tools to tap into writing skills. Free, but space is limited. Registration required. 4. The Cobb Arts Board and The Friends of the Arts, Inc. are accepting nominations for the 2011 Ovation Awards, an annual event to recognize individuals and organizations that make significant contributions to the arts in Cobb. A nomination form is available at prca.cobbcountyga.gov/Arts-OvationAwards.htm. A form is required for each person who is nominated. Nominations are due to the Cobb Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Office by Friday, Sept. 16. Forms can be submitted by email to eweaver@cobbcounty.org. The Ovation Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta.

5. Fun fact: On this date in 1788, the Congress of the Confederation authorized the first national election and declared New York City the temporary national capital.
