The Choral Holiday Concert is the second event of the 2012-2013 Scholarship Series featuring KSU students and faculty member performers. All ticket proceeds from the series directly fund scholarships for students in the KSU School of Music.

The concert will include the Women’s Chorus, Men’s Ensemble, Chorale and Chamber Singers, as well as student instrumentalists. Students will perform pieces from a variety of sources, including classics such as Gjeilo’s “Serenity” and Biebl’s “Ave Maria” and popular favorites such as Work’s “Go Tell it on the Mountain!” and Woodward’s “Ding! Dong! Merrily on High.”

The performance groups are not exclusive to students from the School of Music and will include students from many academic disciplines. Assistant Professor Alison Mann will conduct the Women’s Chorus while Associate Professor Leslie J. Blackwell will conduct the Men’s Ensemble, Chorale and Chamber Singers. Both professors are active clinicians and adjudicators.

Audiences can expect the concert to feature traditional holiday pieces, but Blackwell explains that “it will not be a traditional presentation—it will have a bit of flair.” According to Blackwell, audience members will feel immersed in a theatrical experience that will showcase a variety of talent, focusing on the diversity of KSU’s student population and their achievements.

Tickets for each performance are $15 for general admission and $10 for KSU students. For more information, visit the KSU Box Office or call 770-423-6650. To watch the chorus perform in a flash mob at KSU, visit http://youtu.be/MmKqgBMc0Dw
