Mommy & Me - Owney, the Postal Dog

In 1888 a stray dog wandered into the U. S. Post Office in Albany, New York.  The workers named him Owney and made him their pet.  Owney went on to guard the mail – not just in the post office, but on mail trains that traveled all over the United States.  Discover more about Owney at this Thursday’s Mommy & Me as we read a book about his incredible true story, learn about the tags he acquired everywhere he went, and make a paper bag puppet craft.

Designed for preschool age children ages three to five-years-old and their caregivers, the Museum’s history, themes and exhibits provide a fun and exciting starting point for educational activities.
