Kennesaw State University will host a special screening of “Telling Amy’s Story,” a powerful documentary on domestic violence, the evening of Thursday, October 25. “Telling Amy's Story” is hosted by actress and advocate Mariska Hargitay (“Law and Order”) and told by Detective Deirdri Fishel. The documentary follows the timeline of a domestic violence homicide of a mother of two that occurred on November 8, 2001. A question and answer session with leaders and advocates in the domestic violence awareness community will follow.

BACKGROUND: “Telling Amy’s Story” was created by Penn State Public Broadcasting and has aired on public television stations throughout the country. It has been used as an educational tool by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice. The Verizon Foundation provided grants to Penn State to fund a domestic violence prevention training program for students and faculty and create the “Telling Amy’s Story” documentary and public service media project. http://telling.psu.edu/
