Community Corner

Super Hero 5K

Kennesaw Big Shanty Foundation (KBSF) is pleased to partner with
the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics to present the first annual
Super Hero 5K on Sunday, March 23, 2014! The 5K run/walk is a family friendly
event for Kennesaw and its surrounding communities. Runners and walkers of all
skill levels and ages are invited to join this fun‐filled happening!
All participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Super Hero! Younger
runners will have the opportunity to participate in either a 1 mile fun runwalk
or Tot Trot while more “experienced runners” can test their limits on a runner
friendly 5K course. The race will start and finish on Cobb International
located conveniently off Highway 41 in Kennesaw Georgia. This is the second certified
course within the city limits.

Proceeds from the race will go towards funding educational
projects for both Kennesaw Elementary and Big Shanty Intermediate as well as
help the Law Enforcement Torch Run raise money for special needs children.  The KBSF was established to help offset some
of the shortfalls created by budget cuts and to provide enhanced educational
opportunities that otherwise would not be part of the Kennesaw/Big Shanty
instructional curriculum.
