2011 Garden Gallop 5K Race benefitting Smith-Gilbert Gardens

Just two weeks prior to the Peachtree Road Race, the 2011 Garden Gallop is a great opportunity to condition yourself with a 5K race and benefit a great landmark! This is a USATF Certified Race and is a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. The race starts at the Kennesaw Baptist church parking lot, winds through Swift-Cantrell Park and ends at the Depot. If you prefer a shorter distance, join the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk or Tot Trot. Or just buy a shirt and come stroll amongst the flowers. Whatever way you choose to help the Gardens grow is fine with us!This family-friendly event is our inaugural fundraising 5K road race benefitting Smith-Gilbert Gardens Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) organization.

Besides having a great time running now YOU have the opportunity to participate in the total embarrassment of a sixty-one year old white haired senior citizen. Doug Davis, Director of Smith-Gilbert Gardens, has enthusiastically agreed to wear a pink tutu and appropriate make up while running.   This “unlikely possibility” is predicated on chairperson, Ms. Lynn Vanderhoff, being able to raise more money for Smith-Gilbert from this Race than the Garden does from its Gala on May 7!  NOTE---At this point, it is important to point out that the term “unlikely possibility” is a rather arrogant, impudent, rude, impertinent, disrespectful, insolent (well, you get the picture) challenge made by Mr. Davis.

"Why?" you may ask. Because the best humor is always at someone else’s expense!  Not to mention the fact that proceeds go to benefit the non-profit activities at Smith-Gilbert such as our developing Children’s Garden along with much needed improved access and parking.  So register now at www.gardengallop.com!

To facilitate the public humiliation of SGG’s director, we also need sponsors for the Race. For opportunities to sponsor this event, see the Sponsorships page.
