5 Tips to Prepare Your Home for Thanksgiving Guests

Are you hosting a Thanksgiving gathering? Having out-of-town guests for the holiday? Here are five quick tips to make your guests even more comfortable in your home.

Thanksgiving is only eight days away and for many of you, your guests will be arriving this upcoming weekend. With time ticking away, here are five tips to prepare your home for Thanksgiving guests:

1. If you haven't started grocery shopping start NOW; especially for the most popular items (turkey, cranberries, sage, etc.). By next week these times will be almost impossible to find.

2. Nothing welcomes your guests more than fresh flowers. Have fresh flowers for your guests in their rooms and bathrooms. (Even just a singe bud in a bud vase or tall glass can change an entire room.)

3.  Email your thanksgiving guests a brief overview of what they should expect for the day including meal time, dress, and items they can bring if they should ask. People like to know basics things that many take for granted especially if they aren't familiar with your traditions.

4. Always have fresh fruit out in the kitchen as a snack for you guests. Thanksgiving day is very long and it's healthier than eating sweets all day!

5. You are likely already planning the menu but take time now to plan your food presentation. Get out the serving dishes and bowls you will be using. In case you are missing an item, it's easier to ask to borrow something now than next Thanksgiving morning. Where will the food be placed? On a counter? On the table? Is there room? Planning for this now will help you enjoy the day with your family and usually leads to a much more attractive display of your food.

And while we are talking about an attractive display, here's a shameless plug:

Whether hosting the gathering or coming as a guest, a Holiday Table Atlanta centerpiece will make your planning complete and complement the fantastic meal you've been preparing.

Order your centerpiece now because supplies are becoming limited.

Holiday Table Atlanta is a local business that provides customized centerpieces and arrangements using fresh fruits, flowers and other seasonal items. The business was started by Joe Bleckley, a Johns Creek resident, in time for the upcoming holiday season. Customers can browse through Bleckley’s gallery on his website (www.holidaytableatlanta.com) and then work with him to create a custom-fit piece for their table or home.
