Two Killed in I-575 Crash
The fatality crash, which led to a shutdown of I-575 South, occurred at 1:47 p.m. today, Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Two people were killed this afternoon when a vehicle going northbound on Interstate 575 crossed the median grassy area and struck a southbound vehicle just north of Chastain Road, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department just told Patch.

Georgia State Patrol is assisting with traffic while the Cobb Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit works the crash scene, GSP spokesman Gordy Wright said.
WSB Radio's Judd Hickinbotham said afternoon and evening commuters should expect heavy dealys on I-575 North from the I-75 split. He suggested that drivers exit at Highway 92 (exit No. 7), go east to Canton Highway, head south to either New Chastain Road or Piedmont Road and travel east to get back to I-575.
