Agents Investigate Drug Complaint at Chesterfield Drive Home

They found the ingredients used to manufacture methamphetamine and more.

Authorities with the Cobb County Sheriff's Office arrested a Kennesaw man who allegedly had ephedrine in crushed powdered form, 44 pseudoephedrine tablets wrapped in a plastic baggie and the ingredients used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Agents last Monday went to Gregory Kyle Smart's home in the 2000 block of Chesterfield Drive after receiving a drug complaint, according to an arrest warrant.

"Accused did resist agents as they were attempting to investigate a drug complaint by pulling away from them and refusing to place his hands behind his back as the agents were attempting to secure the scene," according to the warrant.

Authorities found a canister of red devil lye, a bottle of hydrochloric acid, a bottle of sodium dichromate, packages of matches, a plastic baggie that contained 0.3 grams of marijuana, marijuana roaches, pipes and grinders that contained marijuana residue.

"Accused did also have in his possession, numerous plastic baggies and empty capsules commonly used for the distribution of illegal drugs," authorities said.

Smart was arrested on multiple charges, including two counts of unlawful possession of ephedrine, psuedoephedrine and phenylpropanolamine, and one count each of willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, marijuana possession and possession of substances with intent to use to manufacture Schedule I or II controlled substances. He was released July 9 from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
