Cobb Bus Driver Stabbed in Kennesaw

A woman dropped her knife but used the victim's own pen in the assault, police say.

A Mableton woman was arrested Monday after Cobb County police said she repeatedly stabbed a bus driver in the face with a pen.

Taniesha Nicole Twyne, 21, is being held in the Cobb County jail without bond on felony charges of aggravated assault and removal of a weapon from a public official and a misdemeanor count of theft by conversion, according to jail records.

Twyne was riding a Cobb Community Transit bus in Kennesaw when the violence broke out around 3:15 p.m. outside the Town Center at Cobb mall at 400 Ernest Barrett Pkwy., according to a news release from police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman.

She had borrowed another passenger’s cellphone and refused to return it, sparking an argument, Bowman said.

Bus driver Damian Haney, 39, of Lawrenceville tried to break up the fight, police said, but Twyne pulled out a knife.

Haney and Twyne grappled, and she dropped the knife. But Bowman said she grabbed a pen from Haney’s shirt pocket and repeatedly jabbed him in the face with it.

Haney was treated for his wounds at WellStar Kennestone Hospital and was released.

Twyne also was treated for minor injuries at Kennestone after Officer B.J. Daniel arrested her. She was booked into the jail a little after 7 p.m.
